Court Blocks Enforcement of Red Flag Rules with Regard to Attorneys
On October 29, 2009, Judge Walton of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia ruled for the American Bar Association ("ABA") and prevented the controversial Red Flag Rules from being enforced with respect to attorneys.

Justin D. Hockenberry passed the Iowa State Bar Exam on September 10, 2009. Justin was sworn into the Iowa State Bar Association on September 25th, 2009. Justin's practice areas include Litigation, Tax Law, Health Care, Corporate Formation, and Non Profit.

Kirk E. Goettsch joins Parsonage Vandenack Williams LLC.
Kirk will practice in the areas of Commercial Litigation, Business, Tax, and Estate Planning. Kirk received his Juris Doctorate from Drake University Law School in 1985. He was admitted to the Iowa Bar as well as the U.S. District Court Northern District of Iowa and the U.S. District Court Southern District of Iowa in 1985. Kirk was admitted to the Nebraska Bar in 2002. He was also admitted to practice before the U.S. Tax Court and the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals. Kirk served as the County Attorney in Ida County, Iowa, for nine years. Kirk has a Bachelors Degree in Animal Science from Iowa State University.

Parsonage Vandenack Williams LLC has become a partner in office paper management by joining The American Bar Association-Environmental Protection Agency (ABA/EPA) Law Office Climate Challenge Program. The Climate Challenge Program encourages law offices to take specific steps to conserve energy and resources and reduce emissions of greenhouse gases. The ABA Law Practice Management Section (LPM) is co-sponsoring the Program.

The IRS says in Announcement 2008-63 that it is increasing the optional standard mileage rates for the final six months of 2008. Effective July 1, the reimbursement rate for operating a vehicle for business use will increase to 58.5 cents per mile. The rate for medical and moving purposes will increase to 27 cents per mile, the IRS says.

Joshua A. Diveley and Emily R. Langdon are both currently preparing to take the fall 2008 Bar Exam. Emily will take the Nebraska State Bar Exam and Josh will take the Iowa State Bar Exam. Upon successful completion of the respective bar exams, both Joshua and Emily will be joining the firm in September 2008 as attorneys supporting Business and Business Transactions, Estate Planning, Health Care, Benefits, and Real Estate.
